So this weekend I was at the Aberdeen furmeet, and I turned up in my fursuit because someone else wanted to do fursuit bowling.
We met up at Jimmy Chungs a mere 45 minutes later then at this point I was wearing the body of my fursuit but not the head, i'd already eaten so just sat down and had a coke.

At which point DHARAMA struck, one of the furs left the meet.

Because I had turned up in my fursuit.

Apparently they are a lecturer at university and this (for some reason) means they can't be seen with someone wearing a fursuit.

The people wearing collars, the "I love cock <3" badge and the "it all starts with a fuck" t-shirt, no those were fine.

So rather then causing more drama I left and now I really dunno about ever doing anything with other furs again.

You can't think like that. If your happy doing it then its fine.
So one group of furs wasn't positive it doesn't mean the end, all you have to do is organise with another group. Too be honest though it sounds more like the guy was jealous in his own way.
YOU SHOULD NEVER PACK IT IN FOR ALL GROUPS.
This would be a huge mistake as you would lock yourself of from the fur community slowly with this way of thinking and you cant do that!
Look at it this way we are really like those 'other furs you do things with', except we're here for you which must mean you have trust in us and like our advice. (well maybe not quite mine but...)

Dude, I'm sorry to hear that. Don't let it get to you, it sounds to me like the guys a bit of a doofus. :)
I love fursuits, and fursuiting is a big part of the fandom. Don't pack it in just cos some douch feels uncomfortable with it.

unless there's a clear rule / accepted practice of "no fursuits in public places" for these meets, i think he's the one being daft.

if his issue was that members of the group were taking photographs, i think it's reasonable to allow people to step out of range if they don't want their photo taking.

Maybe he was worried his students myght see?
